Seismic design of non-structural components mounted on irregular reinforced concrete buildings

چکیده
The seismic response of non-structural components (NSCs) attached to irregular reinforced concrete (RC) multi-storey buildings is underestimated by current European design provisions. This paper presents a new model for NSCs, accounting the effect torsion and capacity an RC primary structure (P-structure). proposed modification Eurocode 8 (EC8) acceleration amplification factor NSCs. It based on results some 5000 nonlinear dynamic finite element analyses conducted thirty-three building cases. covered wide range parameters including plan layout, capacity, fundamental vibration period, total height, floor rotation, ground type eccentricity ratio. has been demonstrated be improvement over EC8 model, especially NSCs mounted flexible side in tune with period P-structure.

Probabilistic Seismic Evaluation of Reinforced Concrete Structural Components and Systems
An accurate evaluation of the structural performance of reinforced concrete structural systems under seismic loading requires a probabilistic approach due to uncertainties in structural properties and the ground motion (referred to as basic uncertainties). The objective of this study is to identify and rank significant sources of basic uncertainties and structural components with respect to the...

The paper reports the results of a joint project on evolutionary design of reinforced concrete structures in tall buildings. It has been conducted at the Center for Concrete Structures at the Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany and in the School of Information Technology and Engineering at George Mason University. Its ultimate objective is to revolutionize design of both steel and con...
متن کاملEarthquake Resistant Design of Reinforced Concrete Buildings
This paper briefly reviews the development of earthquake resistant design of buildings. The state-of-the-art of seismic design is discussed from the viewpoint of the performance criteria of buildings. These are (a) serviceability from frequent minor-intensity earthquake motions, (b) repairability from an infrequent but major-intensity earthquake motion, and (c) life safety from the maximum poss...
متن کاملProbabilistic assessment of the seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings
The main objective of this article is to assess the expected seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings from a probabilistic point of view by using Monte Carlo simulation. To do that, the seismic behavior of the building is studied by using random capacity obtained by considering the mechanical properties of the materials as random variables. Starting from the capacity curves, one can obta...
